A working pottery in an old tram depot
Ffion Rees has made stoneware in the old depot since 2016. The studio and the shop share it, so everything on the shelves was thrown, glazed and fired under the same roof.
We also make plates for restaurants on commission, and teach the wheel to anyone who wants to learn it — from a single Saturday to a six-week course.

How a Kiln Lane plate is made
Thrown
Every plate, bowl, mug and serving dish starts as a lump of stoneware clay on the wheel.
Glazed
Then it goes into one of our own two glazes. This one is ash…
Fired
…and this one is iron. Both go through our gas kiln before they reach the shop.
Plates, bowls, mugs and serving dishes
Everything we throw is stoneware for the table, glazed in ash or iron. Come and choose from the shelves — the shop is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
